When you come to Mauna Kea Hotel, you feel and recognize that you are in an extraordinary place — one that offers tremendous gifts, treasures, and connections that last a lifetime.
This book is a collection of quotations, poems, and reflections of the heart wisdom that found Pamela while she was at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, at a crossroads in her life.
The hearts arrived as literal heart gifts that washed onto Kauna'oa Beach as she walked along the shore — white pumice, coral-like heart stones, delivered by the sea.

When Laurence Rockefeller flew over the Big Island of Hawaii in search of a site to develop, he was drawn to this special natural inlet because he saw light and illumination coming from the shore.
They built in a style that came to be referred to as "supportive development" — an extension of the care and connection that Mauna Kea Resort represents, and part of its legacy of relationship, care, and Aloha.

"Only from the heart can you truly touch the sky."
— Rumi
Pamela was introduced to Mauna Kea Resort in 2017, on her first trip ever to Hawaii, while on an acting retreat led by a dear teacher and friend, Jim Jarrett. He described it as a place of healing and of heart.
A time when the life she had planned for herself had fallen apart — or was just falling into place in a way she had not expected. Her nine-year marriage had ended, and the Big Island was where she came to transition through the divorce process and into a new life.
Though her heart was heavy, she had a hunch the Mauna Kea would play a role in her healing.

One heart in particular inspired this book — one her daughter Talulah found on one of the many visits to Mauna Kea Resort while living on island. They came to call this one "the perfect heart."
In the weeks following, 127 more white coral heart rocks washed across her path on Mauna Kea beach. One by one she gathered them. With each one, she sat and took in the depth of love and connection she felt.
Knowing no rock or shell should be taken off island, each heart served as an invitation of reflection and each was later released back to the ocean.

"I sent out a signal, a star wish S.O.S., to have something put on my path to show me the way. I surrendered to what was beyond what I knew and could see."
— Pamela Fellows — Star Wish, November 19, 2021
As she walked down to the beach on a stone-laid path, coffee in hand, she felt a quickening of energy coming from behind her. A force so potent it was physical.
She turned to offer space, with curiosity to see what or who it was she had so powerfully sensed approaching. That's when she saw him — someone she had never met but felt like she had always known and recognized immediately.
It took her breath away. This was a collision of universes.

Open. Vulnerable. Hovering. Dancing. Flow Master. Fluid Grace.
Just as the Eagle soars to the highest heights and brings us closer to the Divine realms, the Manta brings us into the depths of the ocean — into the depths of our hearts and being.

"All relationships are love stories. Our relationship to others, our relationship to ourselves, our relationship to places, our relationship with life itself."
— Matthew McConaughey
Among the green leaves of the Naupaka Kahakai, small white flowers bloom with what appear to only be half their petals. A similar plant grows on the high mountains with the same half-bloomed flowers. These plants represent the Legend of Naupaka.
Princess Naupaka and the fisherman Kuai fell in love at first sight. Given their different positions in life, they feared their love could never be. Still, as it happens with great love, they tried to find a way.
Their connection was felt across a great distance, like the flowers blooming from the seashore to the mountains — only half blooming in each place, to depict the missing piece that resides in the heart of the other.

Having your heart wide open allows unconditional love, which is of the highest dimension, to flow through it. This can feel terrifying. Still, Love Expands. Allow it.
Let it be like water. Let it settle in, and wear down any blockages. Being loving is not just about what we give, but also how receptive we allow ourselves to be.
Love ripples out in proportion to how much we can be open in our hearts and let love flow in.

"What you seek is seeking you."
— Rumi
The following pages show the hearts the morning they were returned to their home on Kauna'oa Beach at Mauna Kea.
The word "LOVE" spelled out entirely in white heart-shaped stones arranged on the sand — the returned hearts forming a final love letter to the beach.
"Give your love away in every moment and let those moments sprinkle across the canvas of your life, like hearts on a beach."

"When you find the greatest love, when you touch true Aloha, do the highest action and share it freely without condition."
— Pamela Fellows
This is the only book I have ever seen that has made the real true connection between reality and the magic of the Mauna Kea. It's such a special place that deserves to be appreciated in this way.
